.Meeting began at 7:10 p.m.
.Information to be posted on the TGS website should be emailed to Pam Boseker.
.Event information, such as parent group meetings and Market Day pickup, should be posted on the marquee in front of the school.
.Katie is now office manager for The Graham School. Jess is the new front desk person.
.Charter schools have no calamity days this year.
.It was suggested that a posting page be added to the school website.
.The Annual Campaign for Excellence has been renamed Friends of Graham. A different approach will be used this year to solicit donations from alumni, parents and others. Phone solicitation was reaching less than 50% of targeted people. The 2009-2010 campaign will be a softer, letter-writing campaign than will give prospective donors more information. Administrators want feedback on this approach. The first letters will be mailed in October.
.The Graham Jam will be held 6-10 p.m. on Friday, October 16. This is a fundraiser for music and art instruction at TGS. Tickets will cost $5.00 and will be sold in advance. It will be comprised of a student talent show and art exhibit, with Bush League All-Stars headlining the event. The goal is to raise $500 of $1,000 that is needed to purchase on electric drum set. Parents will need to donate food to sell during the event: tacos, nachos, chili, etc. Fred Whiteman and Megan Mosholder are teachers who are organizing this with the parent group.
.Harvest Fair & Silent Auction
.Safety
It was brought to the attention of the group that shared file sites, such as Limewire and Frostwire (used to download music) can allow access to your records, and allows others to download files (such as pornography) to your computer.
.Goodsearch.com will pay the school 1cent every time their toolbar is used. There are over 1300 stores, like Target, that will donate a percentage of your online purchase to TGS.
.Supplies: TGS needs the following supplies: snacks (juice boxes, granola bars, etc.), Kleenex, hand sanitizer, feminine hygiene products, Dixie cups, ice packs, gauze, tape, cotton balls, Neosporin, latex gloves, band-aids, cough drops, ibuprofen, Tylenol, Tums and Benadryl. Other supplies like copy paper and school supplies can always be used.
It was suggested that a supply drive be organized. Parents would be asked to bring supplies to parent group meetings.
Information about the parent group can be found at tgsparentgroup@yahoo.com. Messages, a calendar of events, etc. will be posted there.
.Students and staff are reminded to use good hand washing and other techniques to help prevent the spread of flu this year. Staff will be required to stay home 7 days if they are diagnosed with H1N1. Hand sanitizer is being used in all classrooms.
.Teachers Todd, Rebecca and Amy V. have asked that microscopes, 8.5 x 11 world atlases and French/English dictionaries be donated to their respective classrooms.
